One of the most inspired singer-songwriters to emerge during the mid-1960s, Eric Andersen's songs -- like Thirsty Boots, Violets Of Dawn, and Close The Door Lightly -- remain, today, as poetic classics of the folk genre of their time. Eric's songs, voice & guitar created a career with 21 albums spanning from the glory days of vinyl LPs to the present age of MP3s; and with audiences spanning from legendary '60s NY coffee houses to a world-wide audience. His songs have been recorded by other artists all over the world too, including Judy Collins, Fairport Convention, Peter Paul & Mary, Francoise Hardy, Linda Ronstadt and The Grateful Dead. A quick read of his abbreviated biography finds paragraphs that suggest chapters in the life of a troubadour, the whole of it being worthy of novel-length treatment. CLIFF EBERHARDT's music is heartfelt, droll, edgy, compassionate and celebratory; it makes the listener think, and feel better too. More info at the Towne Crier Cafe

Saturday 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm | Frances Kramer Singer-Songwriter | Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe 40 West Market Street Red Hook, NY See Map |
This is what happens when a talented singer/songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist taps into the deep roots of American music with a pop sensibility to create original music that is as entertaining as it is sincere and heartfelt. Raised on classical, pop, folk, and rock music in historic Wethersfield, Connecticut (one of the hippest places to be in the 1600’s), Frances Kramer was trained on piano and oboe and self-taught on guitar, banjo, and voice. After making an escape from Bryn Mawr College, she found herself singing country and folk tunes and playing the banjo for a meager living followed by singing and playing guitar in rock bands for no living. While living in a converted school bus camper in the northeast corner of the state, she began to compose poetry and to write songs and instrumental music.

Reservation-raised but influenced by the music of Hendrix, Dylan and Neil Young as much as that of his Mohican heritage, his own sound utilizes guitar, harmonica and native flutes to provide a setting and vehicle for his poetry. His songs encompass both timeless mysticism and modern urgency, connecting with lovers of traditional native music as well as with pop audiences (including Tori Amos, who asked him to open her shows on the Under the Pink tour).
