The RoostBodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
The Roost is a heart & soul Rock and Roll band whose influences are not of these times. The music is no frills and straight ahead with plenty of melody for good measure.

The band counts much of the English blues and rock bands and singers of the seventies as influences, along with the great American soul music burgeoning in the sixties.

The Roost plays for the love of it with no excuses. The idea for the band was born out of a group of friends meeting every now and again and playing what ever came to mind. It was obvious they were all thinking the same thing. Three of those friends started writing together, recording together and before they knew it, The Roost came to be!

After releasing three well received cd's and opening for the likes of Richie Havens, Martin Sexton and Lucy Kaplansky, then finishing a whirlwind tour with Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20 both as a back up guitarist and vocalist and as the opening act for Matchbox 20, Marc Von Em has once again settled back into the Hudson Valley and is performing live throughout. We welcome him back to the stage at Dockside where he will perform solo with just his guitar, harmonica and rustic voice. That might not seem like a lot to some, but for those of us who have heard Marc before we know we are in for a treat. There is no cover for this performance. As usual your generosity is always appreciated. Dockside is located just 3.8 miles off the Bryant Pond Road exit of the Taconic Parkway.
