Rosemary Waltzer
Rosemary Waltzer has performed as a soloist and as a member of numerous orchestras and chamber groups throughout the United States including the American Wind Symphony and the Florida Symphony. As principal horn and soloist with orchestras and ensembles in the Metropolitan New York area, her affiliations include the Riverside Symphony, Broadway Bach Ensemble, Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, Hawthorne Symphony, Einstein Symphony, Adelphi Symphony, Manor House Woodwind Quintet, Butterfield Brass and many others. Rosemary played a recital at Weill Recital Hall. She has previously appeared with the Tri-City Symphony, the Lansing, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids Symphonies and the Bermuda Philharmonic. She is a founding member of Living Tree, a trio featuring her compositions.
She began piano lessons at age five and studied with Henry Harris at Interlochen and with the renown pedagogist, Frances Clark. Ms. Waltzer earned a degree in music education from Michigan State University and has taught several years in the public schools. She enjoys working with beginning, elementary and intermediate piano students.
She pursued her interest in violin attending workshops with Manhattan String Quartet, Raphael Trio Workshop, and the Chamber Music Conference and Composers’ Forum of the East participating as hornist, violinist and composer.
Rosemary is an experienced coach and has worked with chamber groups at all levels including adults at Merrimack and VMAC. As a teacher she incorporates composing and listening for students and often writes music specifically for them.
She is past president of the Rockland County Music Teachers Guild, teaches at Green Meadow Waldorf School and resides, composes, and teaches horn, piano and violin in New City, New York.
