Acoustic Cafe Music Series
Our Lady of Mercy Church 2 Fremont Ave
Park Ridge, NJ   See Map
Singer/songwriter Meghan Cary w/special guest Joe Iadanza.

Meghan Cary didn’t mean to be a musician. But when her fiancé unexpectedly died, she picked up his guitar, and wrote her debut record, earning her Billboard Magazine’s esteemed Critic’s Choice Award. “I wrote my grief into music and sang my way out of the abyss. I keep making music to help others connect with their own stories and find their joy.” Cary continues to share the healing power of music with the community that has rallied around her message of hope and being heard.

Her latest album, SING LOUDER, debuted in the top 10 on the US/International Folk DJ Chart.

Born of Italian immigrants and union activists, NY singer/songwriter Joe Iadanza understands the passionate struggle of the American dream. With a voice that recalls Cat Stevens and Harry Chapin Joe’s music is rooted in classic folk: honest and raw.

Artist and art historian, Marcy B. Freedman, will begin the evening with an overview of women who were at the forefront of abstract and non-objective movements and those who have followed.

Peekskill proudly hosts powerful women painters who work in this tradition: Linda Winters, Athena LaTocha, Bonnie Peritz, and Dorothy Robinson. These four artists will share images of their work, aspects of their aesthetics, and secrets of their creative processes.

The month of March, 2020 also marks the 10 year anniversary of First Monday Salons, moderated by Carla Rae Johnson, at the BeanRunner Cafe in Peekskill. We will celebrate with cake and conversation after the panel!

Buckets of Blarney will once again be making their annual appearance at Captain Jake's for St. Patrick's Day.

Don't risk missing the final performance and regretting it for the rest of your lives. Life is too short for regrets.

Larry Federman and Chris Walsh are two musicians who have been gigging around the Hudson Valley and beyond for over 40 years. Since 1973, Larry has played guitar with numerous bands from Nashville to New York, and has recorded with, and/or shared the stage with many country artists. His music has taken him across the US and across the pond. Chris has been doing solo gigs since the 1980s, and is a founding member of the Hudson Valley band, “Thunder Ridge”, which began playing gigs in 1993. Larry joined the band in 2001, and the two have been lighting up the stage together with TR ever since. Recently, they decided to see what they could do as a duo. So in addition to working with “Thunder Ridge”, they are now also playing under the name, “Gray Matter”. Playing originals and covers – from country to rock and roll - these guys will get your gray matter pumping!

Music Sessions @ RoCA: Finn and the Sharks Saturday, March 21 at 7:30pm Tickets: $20 ($25 at the door)

Join Rockland Center for the Arts for a concert with the high energy of Finn and the Sharks on Saturday, March 21 at 7:30pm.

Originally based out of Nyack, Finn & The Sharks held court at The Office on Main Street where their regularly sold out shows were a weekend ritual for area rockers. Playing up and down the East coast, they were a constant presence in the NYC underground scene at CBGB's, The Peppermint Lounge, The Lonestar Cafe, The Bottom Line and Max's Kansas City. As one of the first bands in the Punk/New Wave era to launch into the Rockabilly revival, Finn and the Sharks distinguished themselves from their peers in the way they broadened their approach to include strong original songwriting with influences ranging from early Rock’n’Roll to Blues, Soul, Country, New Orleans style R’n’B, Doo Wop and Swing.
