ROUND WENT THE WHEEL, by Frank Ceruzzi (Port Chester, NY.)- In the not-so-distant future, the world has reached a tipping point. Technology and progress, once the beacons of civilization, have brought humanity to the brink of disaster. Our leaders, our teachers, our parents have failed us. Now a new regime will need to dream it all up again: the children.

Paramount Hudson Valley Arts is delighted to host the Dramatists Guild Footlight Series DG Footlights™ a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. The readings are open and free to the public.

ToasterBasket is inclusive, cohesive, and improvisational. It is the raw and husky verses of songstress Jezebel Jeffrey, and the syncopated tones of keyboardist Patrick Stokes that started the story of this New York group. The pair began writing music together and at the end of 2017 they added Josh Towers on Bass, Steven Repka on Guitar and most recently Terry Hampton keeping everyone tight on drums. 1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Amazing skeptics with kamikaze duets and a revolving cast of drummers, their set lists lean on the New Orleans funk that Mitchell favors and Gayton’s ska/reggae/rocksteady enthusiams. They throw in a little James Brown, a few originals, and as always, a salute to Levon Helm, in whose Ramble band both played during the drummer’s final years.

Decades of playing music together affords them a sort of musical ESP. Behind his shiny red Roland accordion, Mitchell handles the vocals in his growly fashion, while Gayton provides the bass line on a gorgeous, imposing hand-painted sousaphone. In Gayton’s hands, the horn not only made a thrilling sound but also proves to be a good dance partner.

As the band likes to say, Fatboy Kanootch cannot be stopped!

Gary and Roger TerBush have been playing music together for most of their lives. They started out as teenagers in various rock and acoustic acts.

It wasn’t until the late 70’s that their musical interests really joined together to form what was, and has continued to be, a union of great singing and playing.

Their music is a combination of traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music fused with contemporary acoustic sounds delivered with great vocals and instrumental solos.

That November 2009 evening when the quartet consisting of Rick Savage (Highland Lakes, NJ), Joe Vincent Tranchina (Greenwood Lake, NY), Bill McCrossen (formerly of Washingtonville, NY) and Michael D’Agostino (West Milford, NJ) played for the first time, they all felt something remarkable was happening. Meeting regularly over the following few years, their connection grew both musically and personally. Their first self-titled release, INNERrOUTe, was the culmination of those early years. Then, after a period of favorable reviews, gigging, and a live radio performance on WKCR in NYC, the band ventured back into the studio to stretch the boundaries of their growing collective improvisational skills. Consequently, producing FOURMATION, a slice of one night’s music in the life of INNERrOUTe. Their latest CD Wing Factory continues this remarkable journey. “Every time we get together, it’s to get out of the way, allowing a whole new fount of ideas to flow through us."

West My Friend

Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
In the modern musical landscape, it’s rare to hear something as put-together as three-piece Cascadian folk outfit West My Friend - something so layered, deeply symphonic, baroque, and mysterious in its own winking way while still courting an edge of disaster. Simple is safe, but complex is fiery, intricate, and ultimately more rewarding. Mingling grassroots guitar, mandolin, accordion, orchestral instruments, and interweaving harmonies, their fourth album "In Constellation" features longtime members Eden Oliver, Alex Rempel, and Jeff Poynter conceiving a new box, then thinking outside of it. Punctuated by musings on anxiety and belonging, song structures vary and dynamics change from moment to moment, painting powerful lyrical portraits over backgrounds of violins and trumpets that swell, collapse, and tumble between bold harmonies. West My Friend is bringing forth a new sound you’ve never known you’ve wanted and new meaning to the things you’ve never known you needed.
