Larry Federman and Chris Walsh are two musicians who have been gigging around the Hudson Valley and beyond for over 40 years. Since 1973, Larry has played guitar with numerous bands from Nashville to New York, and has recorded with, and/or shared the stage with many country artists. His music has taken him across the US and across the pond. Chris has been doing solo gigs since the 1980s, and is a founding member of the Hudson Valley band, “Thunder Ridge”, which began playing gigs in 1993. Larry joined the band in 2001, and the two have been lighting up the stage together with TR ever since. Recently, they decided to see what they could do as a duo. So in addition to working with “Thunder Ridge”, they are now also playing under the name, “Gray Matter”. Playing originals and covers – from country to rock and roll - these guys will get your gray matter pumping!

Dr. Howard Rothenberg knew he wanted to become a veterinarian when he was eight years old. He was very shy and loved being around animals where connection was purely emotional and no words were needed. He is currently Chief of Staff at Goosepond Animal Hospital in Monroe, New York. Music became a very important part of Howards life early on. He began playing clarinet and piano as a youngster and graduated to guitar at age 14. Howard uses music as a means of expression of his inner most feelings and sometimes just for fun. His musical influences are mainly from the 1970s and 1980s. His style is derived from folk, blues, jazz, and even a little country. Songs vary from story telling to love ballads. As with all song writers, many of his songs come from life experience both good and bad. He has performed at open mic nights, parties and for his friends. He has written song parodies for special occasions and also performs many cover tunes as well.

ROUND WENT THE WHEEL, by Frank Ceruzzi (Port Chester, NY.)- In the not-so-distant future, the world has reached a tipping point. Now a new regime will need to dream it all up again: the children.

Paramount Hudson Valley Arts is delighted to host the Dramatists Guild Footlight Series DG Footlights™ a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. ToasterBasket will be at The Falcon Underground in Marlboro Friday Nov 22 8 pm

ToasterBasket is a dynamic group of five musicians deconstructing, fusing, and re-serving up the sounds of soul, jazz, blues, and funk into a mosaic of “modern motown rock” for your listening pleasure. ToasterBasket is inclusive, cohesive, and improvisational. It is the raw and husky verses of songstress Jezebel Jeffrey, and the syncopated tones of keyboardist Patrick Stokes that started the story of this New York group. The pair began writing music together and at the end of 2017 they added Josh Towers on Bass, Steven Repka on Guitar and most recently Terry Hampton keeping everyone tight on drums. With a wide range of influences, ToasterBasket appeals to listeners of all ages. The band’s 5 song EP “Toast to Talent” was released in May 2019.

Amazing skeptics with kamikaze duets and a revolving cast of drummers, their set lists lean on the New Orleans funk that Mitchell favors and Gayton’s ska/reggae/rocksteady enthusiams. They throw in a little James Brown, a few originals, and as always, a salute to Levon Helm, in whose Ramble band both played during the drummer’s final years.

Decades of playing music together affords them a sort of musical ESP. Behind his shiny red Roland accordion, Mitchell handles the vocals in his growly fashion, while Gayton provides the bass line on a gorgeous, imposing hand-painted sousaphone. In Gayton’s hands, the horn not only made a thrilling sound but also proves to be a good dance partner.

As the band likes to say, Fatboy Kanootch cannot be stopped!

…"one of the most engaging performers in the biz" "Time Out" London

“Peter Calo is the musician you meet early in your career and all of a sudden you’re 70 years old and you’re lucky enough to still be playing and writing with him. This album shows his ability to merge styles and introduce new structures and harmonies with himself singing lead vocals. Always an inspiration and always quite surprising. Life sure does shine bright on an ordinary day!! Oh, wait a second, I think he wrote that!!” Carly Simon
