HONOREE: Ian Bennett English-born, but musically nurtured on our side of the Big Pond, Ian Bennett (a.k.a. The Mentor, The Tormentor, The Curmudgeon, The Guardian of REAL traditional Blues), has been singing and blowing sax and harp in the Hudson Valley for over 30 years. He has been a force in bands such as Boswell, The Little Elliott Lloyd Blues Band, The Ulstafarians, and The Blue Rays.

For 40 years his mission has been to play his beloved American Roots music - Real Blues, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz - and spreading the word to young musicians.

His musical influences include Sonny Boy Williamson, Big Walter Horton, Little Walter, Charlie Musselwhite and Paul Butterfield. The influence of jazz legends such as Stanley Turrentine, Pharaoh Sanders, made their mark, with John Coltrane whose “sound” originally pulled Ian into music.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
http://www.dylandoyleband.com/

Based in the Hudson Valley, rising star Dylan Doyle has been performing nationally, as well as internationally.

After sharing the stage with the young musician in Memphis a few years back, Ben Cauley, sole survivor of the Otis Redding plane crash and co-founder of the Bar-Kays likened Dylan to a young Jimi Hendrix. When asked about the wave of young talent rising from the Hudson Valley, Van Morrison guitarist John Platania commented “Dylan Doyle is the future.” Bill Payne of Little Feat described Dylan’s work as “imaginative and original.”

"Guitar star Dylan Doyle delights audiences, but frustrates anyone trying to define his sound....It isn’t the 19-year-old’s job to define it. It’s his job to play it. And that’s what the Dylan Doyle Band will do..." - Wisconsin News / Baraboo News Republic

Grammy award winning artist Shunzo Ohno is a "brilliant trumpet stylist" whose playing and original compositions have touched millions. A versatile musician who has played, recorded and toured with such renowned leaders as Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, and many others. Mr. Ohno has 16 recordings under his own name as a leader and has appeared on over thirty more as a sideman.

Born in Gifu, Japan, Shunzo's career hit high gear when toured with Art Blakey‘s Jazz Messengers. The compelling Latin energy in Shunzo's playing can be linked to his tenure with the celebrated Machito and his Afro-Cuban Orchestra and he recorded the Grammy Award-winning album with Machito and His Salsa Big Band (1983).

Shunzo then joined master arranger and composer Gil Evans, becoming a key contributor on recordings, including the 1988 Grammy Award-winning "Live at Sweet Basil". Shunzo made a total of four recordings with Evans, who remained a lifelong mentor to him.
