After being mentored by Dewey Redman, Tom Harrell, and Kenny Barron, and performing with many musicians who have become contributors to the contemporary jazz scene (Jacky Terrasson, David Sanchez, Joshua Redman, Mark Turner, and Brad Mehldau, among others.)

Producer Joel Dorn signed Leon to record 4 stellar CD's: “Above and Below” (Sony/Epicure, 1994) “Belief” (Sony/Columbia, 1996), “Awakening” (Sony/Columbia, 1998) and “The Simple Life” (Label M, 2001).

From 2001 – 2015, Leon lived France, where he developed and taught embodirhythm (voice / body percussion).

This new recording represents Leon's vision to create a new musical language, Embodijazz…an organic synthesis of two distinct personalities…jazz drummer and voice / body percussionist.
