Tips on Viewing the HVmusic Site

Browser Tips
Netscape Navigator This site is optimized for Netscape browsers. You don't have to do anything if you're using Netscape.

If you are using Version 2.0 or older then you will not see the colored backgrounds on the tables we use throughout HVmusic (the words "Browser" and "Tips" at the top of this table should be in a dark yellow box). You're also missing lots of the great features in the newer versions of Netscape Navigator. Maybe now is a good time to upgrade?

If some of the pictures on our pages look strange to you then maybe your system is only displaying 256 colors. Here's how to change it.

Microsoft Internet Explorer Although this site is optimized for Netscape browers, it should also display just fine when you use Internet Explorer. You don't have to do anything if you're using Internet Explorer.

AOL Follow these instructions to improve the viewing of this site when using the AOL browser. (The exact steps vary between AOL 3.0 and 4.0)
  1. Edit your WWW preferences.
  2. Select uncompressed graphics. Depending on the level of AOL browser you are using you do this by either selecting the box labelled "uncompressed graphics", or unchecking the "compressed graphics" box.
  3. Removed all cached (saved) graphics. This will cause your browser to get all new graphics.
  4. You're done. Press OK or whatever.
  5. Reload our page. It should look much better.

Changing from 256-Color Mode

One reason for the picutures to look bad is when your computer is using only 256 different colors to show the pictures. Change your computer to use more colors and the pictures will look much better.
