Cross-Cultural Connection, Inc.
Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center, in partnership with Cross-Cultural Connection, is proud to offer a 6-week jazz workshop series and performance with Ray Blue, an award-winning jazz saxophonist, composer and educator who performs and conducts workshops and master classes internationally.

As a participant, you will have an opportunity to improve your jazz musicianship and performance skills with seasoned professional musicians in a positive and dynamic group setting. The workshop series will culminate in a benefit performance for Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center where you will play alongside top-notch jazz musicians.

Workshop sessions will be held on the following Wednesday evenings from 6pm-9 pm at Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center:

March 29, April 5, April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3 ; the performance will take place on Thursday, May 4 at 8:00 pm. Tickets for the performance are $20 and may be purchased by calling (845) 486-4571. Pricing (includes all 6 workshop sessions and performance)*

$225 - Students or Seniors (62 and over) ($200 workshop fees+$25 registration fee) $275 Adults ($250 workshop fees + $25 registration fee)

Workshop sessions will focus on developing individual virtuosity while promoting the musicianship that is needed for ensemble playing. The key areas of focus include Theory /Practice, Hearing Rhythms, Exploration, Phrasing, Improvisation, Repertoire/Performance and Band Leadership Skills. Being able to play with professional musicians who provide constructive feedback raises the level of all the ensemble members playing, while participating in the performance fosters confidence newly developed skills and progress are brought to a new level. The workshops are open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all ages. We recommend that participants be at an intermediate level of playing, with a basic familiarity of jazz repertoire and an understanding and ability to play or sing all of the major scales. Participants must be able to attend all workshop sessions and the performance and practice between sessions.
