Music Performance at TCCC, March 3rd.
with Evie Ladin and Keith Terry
Folk/Traditional
Tompkins Corners Cultural Center
729 Peekskill Hollow Road
Putnam Valley, NY   See Map
Tompkins Corners Cultural Center (TCCC) announces its first Saturday night event of the 2018 season, presenting Evie Ladin and Keith Terry, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 7:30pm.

Innovative musicians/dancers with a quirky neo-trad soul, Oakland, California based Evie Ladin & Keith Terry throw down original folk songs and deep interpretations of old songs, with the kinetic thrill of percussive dance. It’s Appalachian string band music pared to the absolute minimum of accompaniment, but packed with an orchestra’s worth of rhythm. A prolific singer-songwriter, dancer, and square dance caller, the polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin’s clawhammer banjo has been heard in many popular venues, including A Prairie Home Companion, Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.

As Evie wrote to us last fall, “I’m excited for the opportunity to come back to Putnam Valley, as that’s where I spent all the summers of my teen years and I’ve not had the opportunity to return.

New York based Judy Kass, quickly draws in her audience with soulful vocals, no-nonsense lyrical storytelling and genre-bending exploration of guitar and piano. Originally recorded by the super group Earth Wind and Fire, FANTASY has fast become a mega hit and an international favorite.

Villa Palagonia: Where North, South, East, West, and Humanity Collide

Eclectic acoustic brushed with hues from Mediterranean folk is the avenue on which the ensemble Villa Palagonia perches—yet the side streets and dusty alleyways that these musicians travel offer engaging timbres that are woven together by songs imparting tales of the old world and the new. Founded in 2013 by multifaceted guitarist Joe Ravo and multi-instrumentalist and singer Allison Scola, Villa Palagonia calls upon its members’ southern Italian roots and American know-how to create original music peppered with elements from traditional Sicilian and Italian folk songs. The ensemble released its debut album Rhythms & Roots in 2016. Hailing from New York City, they have performed throughout the United States, appearing at folk festivals and in concerts series including Illinois' Woodstock Folk Festival, Brooklyn's First Acoustics, WFUV John Platt's On Your Radar, and WFMT Folk Stage with Rich Warren.

EC Lorick is is NOT to be missed!!! If you have plans, change them. :-) You'll thank me later.

E.C. Lorick is an extremely gifted, insightful, captivating songwriter and performer. There are so many facets to this gem:

His voice is just beautiful. Smokey, understated, passionate, expressive, soothing. I could listen to him sing endlessly and never tire of hearing him.

It doesn't matter if he's performing a composition of his own or someone else's composition: At the risk of sounding cliché, E.C. makes everything he sings his own. His interpretations are flawless and original and compelling. His versions are definitive.

His musicianship is world-class. He plays the guitar, the bass, and the harmonica like no one else. Effortlessly, beautifully, dynamically.

When it comes to musical precision, tonality, harmony and passion. E.C. is not to be missed.

Three outstanding keyboardists will take the stage tonight in a Boogie Woogie Piano showcase and concert. This exciting event will recapture the early American art form of the Swing, Stride and Boogie Woogie Piano. Each performer will present his own individual approach to the form. Special guests vocalists will also join in the fun.

SCOTT STATON is a multi media artist who's been performing Boogie Woogie piano since the early 80's. He played with Denny Leroux and the Peter Duchin Orchestra for 17 years.

LOREN KOREVEC is the quintessential Pianoman! He was the house pianist at the famed Elaine's Restaurant in NYC from nearly 10 years.

DAVE KEYES is an internationally known performing and recording artist. He's played with Bo Diddley, Gladys Knight and the late Lou Rawls among others. Dave was bandleader/conductor of the Grammy winning B'dway musical SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE.
