Peekskill, NY   See Map
Yonkers native and practicing attorney, Michael Attanasio, has been singing for more than 40 years. As a child he learned Sinatra songs through osmosis by listening to his father's records. In his teens he discovered Joe Cocker, Chicago, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Clapton and the Allman Brothers. He spent time in a rock band but before the 70's ended he became captivated by Sara Vaughan, Al Jarreau and Joe Sample. Then came years singing in church, his soulful solos inspiring many. Michael's eclectic tastes are evident in his set list, drawing from the jazz standards of his Sinatra era father and those of his 60's and 70's music awakening period. Jazz, rock, soul, blues; Sinatra, Johnny Hartman, Bobby Darin, Ray Charles, Al Jarreau, Joe Cocker, Lionel Ritchie. Come hear them all in an intimate evening of songs from two generations.

An Evening of Folk, Pop, Jazz, Blues and Originals
with Sloan Wainwright, Tompkins Corners Cultural Center
Singer-Songwriter, Contemporary, and Pop/Soft Rock
Tompkins Corners Cultural Center
729 Peekskill Hollow Road
Putnam Valley, NY   See Map
Defying standard categorization, Sloan consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid.

Her family tree (brother and folk-music luminary Loudon Wainwright, nephew Rufus Wainwright, nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche) reads like a who’s who of contemporary folk music. Sloan’s incredible gift is not only her unique songwriting ability but also her dramatically voiced rendition of original songs. She’s folk influenced, but the real star is her voice. Warm and smoky and smooth, it makes her earthy lyrics all the more intense.

With 10 original CD releases, Sloan continues to write, sing and perform live and has won two songwriting awards at the annual EmPower Posi Music Awards. She has written numerous musical compositions for theater and dance and teaches at many of the best-known master songwriter series and workshops.

with Jon Faddis, trumpet, David Hazeltine, piano , Todd Coolman, bass, Dion Parson, drums
Jazz
The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College
735 Anderson Hill Road
Purchase, NY   See Map
Jazz at The Center celebrates the life and music of Dizzy Gillespie in the centennial year of his birth with a "Triumph of Trumpets," featuring trumpeter Jon Faddis and an all-star line-up of today’s great jazz artists.

John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie non only ushered in the era of Be-Bop in the American jazz tradition, he left a legacy of musical excellence that embraced and fused all musical forms, particularly those with roots deep in Africa such as the music of Cuba, other Latin American countries, and the Caribbean. His goodwill and good humor infused jazz musicians and fans throughout the world with the genuine sense of jazz's ability to transcend national and ethnic boundaries--for this reason, Gillespie was and is an international treasure.

TEOA is a band of friends, singers and travelers who blend three-part harmony with rock and Americana. The Philadelphia-based outfit masters a style that resonates with fans of Ryan Adams, CSNY and Dawes. All frontmen of previous bands, Brendon Thomas, James Downes and Trevor Leonard met on tour in 2005. They went on to form a trio that highlights their vocal chemistry and captures the raw honesty of their performances. TEOA recently released their debut LP (self-titled), a follow-up to their previous EPs, Shakey and Steep Bay. Anyone who has seen TEOA can attest to their powerful harmonies and stage presence.

The End of America has performed at SXSW, Savannah Stopover and the Baltimore Folk Fest and has shared the stage with Larry Campbell, David Bromberg, Gary Louris (Jayhawks), Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers) and Beck.
